Iconic Effect Purple Paradise

Time for some sparkle now, with another beautiful glitter from Iconic Effect. Earlier on in the week I was loving Pop Rocks By Iconic Effect, and now this one. It is stunning!
Purple Paradise is a whole mixture of dark purple glitter squares, magenta sequins, smaller pink, purple and other coloured hexes, and multi-coloured smaller glitter that capture the light beautifully. The overall appearance in the bottle is pink and purple but I keep seeing more colours, my camera can see orange and green, but oddly it has not captured the large magenta sequins which I can see very clearly. To the naked eye they look beautiful against Blackberry Fool but not at all visible on the pictures I'm afraid.
I have seen this over a number of more contrasting shades so I chose to try it over a similar base and I love this finished result. The glitter distribution was good, and it dried quickly - another success for Iconic Effect!

Jacava Blackberry Fool

What a beautiful polish this is! I have had a pretty rotten week, and then a swatching nightmare but putting this on has really lifted my spirits.
Jacava is a relatively new brand on the scene, with their truly elegant bottles, labelled with real gold. No nasties in there and no animal testing.
Blackberry Fool is a stunning magenta cream, and I am completely in love with it. I am very fussy about pink shades, some I just can't wear but this is lovely, it has just enough blueness to make it perfect for me. I can just imagine a blackberry fool in this shade and it really does look good enough to eat.
It painted in well, opaque in 2 coats and super shiny. These pics are with no top coat.

Iconic Effect Pop Rocks

Yikes, it's been a whole week since I painted my nails. The previous mani lasted really well, which was great because its been such a busy week but look here, another UK Indie that is just staggeringly beautiful!
This is Iconic Effect Pop Rocks. It is a pale blue cream with magenta pink sequins, hexes in pink, blue and purple and then more tiny sparkly glitter.
I swatched this over a few base colours to start with. The base used here is Nails Inc Bluebell which is not quite the same shade of blue, but close enough for it not to detract from the colour of the polish. I also swatched it over a pale grey and that looked good too. I used one coat of Bluebell and one coat of Pop Rocks, with a tiny bit extra where I went fishing for the bigger pink sequins although glitter distribtion was pretty good first time round. It dried well, and the finish is lovely and smooth with one coat of topcoat.
I think this is just beautiful. I am not really comfortable wearing pale pretty shades but add in that gorgeous magenta glitter and I am completely loving it.
Well done to Iconic Effects for bring out such a lovely polish, and even the label is pretty :)

Pocket Money Polishes My Girl

Something really special for you today, my very first ever Indie, and what's more, it is a UK Indie!
I saw this blogged by lovely Charlotte on So You Beauty and I thought it was so pretty I ordered one within minutes of seeing it! It arrived the next day and I have been wearing it since Monday, but have been so busy with other stuff I really didn't want to rush my posting.
I chose Nails Inc Pembridge Crescent as my base, and I think this grey lilac makes a beautiful base for this polish.
This is Pocket Money Polishes My Girl and it is such a pretty polish. It is a mix of grey and pink hexes and lots of tiny microglitter that pick up all sorts of colours and I absolutely love it!
It painted on well, glitter distribution was good and it dried quickly too. I wore it with one coat for a day and then added a second coat. I like it both ways, the final pic is with one coat, the rest are two coats of glitter.
This is her one of her first polishes and if this is anything to go by, I think she has success on her hands.

Nails Inc Pembridge Crescent

I have reviewed this beautiful Nails Inc polish briefly before when I received the Garden Party Collection but this is the first time I have worn it.
Pembridge Crescent is a gorgeous grey lilac, and it has that duskiness to it that I love with pastel shades, not too pretty.
It painted on beautifully, and is very wearable. It's ones of those colours that you could class as a nude, and it is so rich and creamy, very sophisticated. When I move away from dark shades, this is the sort of colour I go for that is well within my comfort zone.

and then just because they are so cute, I found my kittens hiding on the top stair today, maybe avoiding the smelly nail varnish!

OPI I Lily Love You

Thought I would add some glitter to Russian Navy as I was going out at the weekend so I looked through my collection and chose OPI I Lily Love You.
This is is a very pretty glitter in a pink base although over a colour as dark as Russian Navy, the pink is not apparent. It is made up of tiny microglitter, hexes and chunkier glitter in all sorts of colours and catches the light beautifully. This is one coat, the glitter distribution was good and it dried quickly. A couple of the larger chunks did need pressing down a bit, and I ended up using 2 coats of top coat for a completely smooth finish, otherwise I would have spent the evening bothering the flappy bits !

OPI Russian Navy

Today is my son's birthday, so I let him chose a colour. Rather predictably he chose dark purple, so I checked my spreadsheet for dark purples that hadn't been tried yet, and there were none! Then I remembered OPI Russian Navy, I showed him the bottle - oh yes that one!
Russian Navy is a gorgeous navy with a pink/purple shimmer which is more apparent to the naked eye than these pics show and I should probably list this as a blurple on my spreadsheet.
Interestingly the first coat was quite streaky and looked more like a green blue, but the second coat just brought it all to life and it is just stunning. I am hoping it will meet with my son's approval, it certainly meets with mine.

OPI Katy Perry Last Friday Night

I have  a very lovely polish for you today, Last Friday Night from the OPI Katy Perry Collection. I was lucky enough to pick this up on one of the FB swap pages, having been on the look out for it for a while.
Last Friday Night is a very pretty polish which looks stunning in the bottle, with a pale blue base, blue, pink, silver and green hexes (I think!) and bright blue/aqua micro glitter. I've seen enough swatches to know that although it looks lovely on a naked nail, none of the blue really comes through so when I got it,my intention was to wear it over a blue. When I won Midnight's Secret I knew this would be a great base, and I think the two go very well together, as you almost get the look of the bottle on the nail.
The first few pics are with two coats of the OPI, the last couple are with just one coat.
It's so sparkly, and so frustrating that I can't pick that up on the camera!

Kittens

I'm afraid I can't resist posting  a few kitten pics. We picked these up on Wednesday, not quite finalised their names yet but they are too adorable not to share.

Jacava London Midnight's Secret

A very special polish for you today. This is Jacava London's Midnight's Secret, and I was lucky enough to win this polish in a giveaway. Lovely Lucy from Lucy's Stash teamed up with Jacava London back in April. They were promoting Autism awareness month and giving away 10 of these beautiful blue polishes.
Midnight's Secret is a stunning vibrant blue shimmer and I am so pleased to have won it - it really is beautiful. Application was good, opaque in two coats and the shimmer is lovely.
The bottle is pretty special too, I don't think I have any bottles as elegant in my collection, but having fallen in love with this one, I think I will be on the look out for a few more of these.
