China Glaze Winter Holly

I am a bit late blogging this one, took the pics a few days back and only just loaded them onto the computer, too late to do anything about the photo-bombed bottle shot!
I got this polish on the spur of the moment when buying a couple of others, and then worried that it might be too like another green sparkly China Glaze I have, Glittering Garland. Actually they are not at all alike and whilst doing the unthinkable, googling swatches after I'd bought, I read that this one looks good without a top coat. I think this pre-dates the liquid sand trend, but since I love that look I thought I'd give it a try.
It did dry down to a finish very like the liquid sands, and I don't have any dark green sands so I am delighted with this! It's a stunning dark holly green with tiny glitter particles that must be holographic- they picked up gold, red, green and blue. It also lasted really well without a top coat, in fact it kept its colour better than some of the liquid sands that faded after a few days on my nails. It was however a swine to get off, but it was so beautiful it can be forgiven!

I did decide I should try it with a top coat too, but even after 3 coats the surface was still uneven. It looks glossy in the pics but not smooth. When I wear it again, I'll save my top coat, I do prefer the textured finish anyway but either way the colour is just lovely, I love dark green for nails so a complete winner for me!
