Quirk Fantine

Today's polish is a really special one, I think one of my favourite over recent weeks. Quirk was launched back in September and is another wonderful UK Indie brand, run by a lady who I already knew from the facebook chatting and swap pages.
Fantine comes from her latest collection, called So Bloody Miserable and is based on characters from Les Mis.There are 4 polishes in the collection, available here .
Fantine is made up of various sized hexes and squares in the palest pastel shades of  blue, turquoise, green, pink and purple mixed with irregular black shards. The pastel shades remind me of the shimmery pearly colours you see inside a seashell. The polish also includes iridescent glitters that go from not really being visible at all through green, and blue to purple, and tiny blue micro glitter that again just catch the light at a certain angle.
It really is a fantastic mix, changing with the light and I love the addition of the black shards, they just give it that extra edge.
As soon as I saw this polish I knew I wanted to try it over a pale grey or a nude, so Jacava City Heights was perfect. None of the pretty matte pastel shades are lost against the pale neutral shade, and the black stands out beautifully; then let the light catch it and all the iridescent glitters come to life and blues, greens and purples sparkle against the soft grey brown. It really is such a pretty and romantic polish, I just had to keep looking at it!
The glitter distribution was brilliant, I got the perfect mix of pastels, glitter and black with one coat. I knew this polish would be pretty as I had already seen swatches but I do love it when a polish arrives, I paint it on and and it far exceeds my expectations.
I want to try this again and again over different pastel shades! I'm sure it will look great!

  2. That looks gorgeous over the taupe Debbie! I need to try mine over a darker colour like this - I think it looks better than over the very pale base I used :)
