A England Lancelot and OPI Mariah Carey Pure 18K white gold and silver top coat

My blog was 1 year old on 30th December 2013 and in an ideal world I would have done an anniversary post on that day, but its never an ideal world is it?
Anyway this is the first blog since Knitty Nails' 1st Anniversary so its quite fitting that I am using a polish by the same company as my very first ever blog post, A England and a rather special, and super expensive OPI!

So, for my New Years Eve nails I used A England Lancelot with OPI Mariah Carey Pure 18K white gold and silver top coat.
I didn't take enough photos for the A England to get a post of its own but this was the first time I’d used it and I loved it the minute it hit my nails. Almost perfect with one coat, I used two coats, and the application and finish were stunning. Lancelot is a black red, so very dark but you can still see the red in some lights and I wondered why I’d taken so long to try it! It’s beautiful and if I had had the time I would have worn it on its own for a couple of days before top coating it with Pure. The picture is without a top coat.
I was lucky enough to pick up a bottle of OPI Mariah Carey Pure 18K white gold and silver top coat in the sale at Beauty Bay. It was half price, and then I had a sneaky 10% off code so it ONLY cost £13.48, which still makes it my most expensive polish EVER!!!
I had expected it to be more silvery, so I wasn’t too sure when I first applied it, but this is sometimes a problem with expectations and I think part of my concern was I really didn’t want to cover up the lovely Lancelot too soon!
Anyway it only took about half an hour and I loved it. The little white gold flakes applied beautifully over the black red, although I was a bit heavy handed on my thumb so I redid it (thank heavens for the remover pot!). I just used one coat and then a coat of my normal top coat. I think against such a dark colour the single coat was enough.
So here we have my New Years Eve nails, all matched up with my lovely Ikavee cat bangle and my rather bold, black and white “mod” dress.
Did someone say party? We had a great night J hope you all did too!
