Nelly Polish Bodmin

Today's polish is a lovely blue jelly from UK Indie maker Nelly Polish.
I tried my first Nelly Polish, Jonah's Green, a couple of weeks ago, and liked it so much I thought I'd try some more, so this is my second one.
Bodmin is a beautiful deep blue jelly, with gold and blue hexes of various sizes, along with a scattering of other colours too. It looks like a night sky, with twinkling stars.
I swatched this when it arrived to establish whether I'd use undies or not. As a jelly obviously the coverage is not as opaque as a creme but I got pretty good finish with three coats, however for this mani I decided to layer it over Leighton Denny In The Navy which is a similar toned blue.
Glitter distribution was good, I used 2 coats here as I wanted more glitter, and I love the look of some of the glitter under a layer of blue jelly.
I will also add that removal of my previous Nelly Polish was easier than a normal glitter so I don't expect any problems with this one. I am so glad I bought more of these, I am looking forward to trying the others out soon - and if you fancy them, there are plenty to choose from in the Nelly Polish shop.

Leighton Denny In The Navy

Today's polish is a beautiful blue by Leighton Denny. In The Navy is not really navy, as I think of it- it is more of a french navy or maybe airforce blue. It is a mid blue, and I'd say with a hint of greyness about it that stops its being too bright and puts it firmly in the "me polish" zone.
I couldn't find a single swatch of this online, and any links I did find took me to Leighton Denny Captivated which is bluer and a touch darker. Although I have had this polish for over 2 years, I still remember deciding to take a chance on it since I couldn't find any swatches and being a bit surprised that it isn't more navy. Nevertheless it's a great blue, and not like any other blue I have.
It is a blue creme, extremely good coverage with no streaks on the first coat, but I did two coats just to be safe.
This is one of those polishes that I feel completely comfortable in, and actually have very little to say about it except that I love it! It has a lovely glossy finish. It goes perfectly with jeans and just happens to be a fantastic match for one of my favourite aran cardigans and the blue gloves I made with the left over wool!

Indy's Indies Red Envelope

Now I have something super sparkly for you this evening.
Indy's Indies is a UK Indie brand which has only been around for a few months and you can find all the beautiful polishes here.
The latest collection is inspired by the Chinese New Year and includes 3 glitter polishes, 2 are more red gold, and the 3rd is more green. All three are stunning and really capture the colours that I think of when I think of China Town and the brightly coloured Chinese Dragons.
This polish is full of surprises. In the bottle I'd say its clearly red and gold, but once on the nail you realise that yes, it is made up of varying sized hexes in red and gold in a clear base, but the gold ones are holograhic so once they capture the light the glitters are a complete rainbow of colours. I have used it here over my Lilypad mani from yesterday.
The other thing that I hadn't spotted was the large gold dots and the huge red dots. I hadn't noticed them at first but I went back to add them and it was very easy to fish them out with a cocktail stick and place them. For me this gives an extra dimension to the polish, the option to wear the glitter as most of my pictures show with just one coat or to really add that extra party feel by fishing for the larger dots, so sparkly that my camera got very confused!

Lilypad Lacquer Rainbows in space

I have something rather lovely for you today. This was the first Lilypad I ever bought, I snapped it up on one of the Facebook pages and luckily for me when I put it on earlier this week the sun was shining!!
Lilypad Lacquer Rainbows in space is a beautiful black holo. I wouldn't say jet black, maybe more of very dark grey and in some lights perhaps a touch of very dark blue, just like a night sky!
It is a beautiful polish, applied well in two coats. I did notice the holo faded a little when I put top coat on but it really had to last for a day out yesterday so top coat was vital, and the holo was still very good! In the sun it was stunning, in bright indoor lights equally amazing, and for the rest of the time just very pretty.
So here are quite a few pics, hopefully I've captured its beauty. I certainly think I'll need a few more of these Lilypads!

TarasTalons Hashtag Nailmail

Today's polish is a beautiful delicate holo made by TarasTalons. It is from Tara's Hashtag Polishing collection and it is a gorgeous pale pink holographic polish.
This is a sheer polish and although you could build it up with layers, I needed to be certain my very uneven nail lines were covered so I used undies. I chose Leighton Denny Whatever, as it's a really close colour match. The advantage of using undies and just one coat of Hashtag Nailmail is that I get the desired effect without using too much of my precious holo, I only have a mini bottle and it's so pretty I know I am going to want to use it again and again!
Having had quite bright green nails for most of last week I was really ready for something softer and more subtle - this is perfect. The holo glitter is extremely fine and it shimmers delightfully in most lights and is just beautiful in the sunlight.

Magic Goose Odd Socks

Today's polish is from UK Indie, Magic Goose. Odd Socks is from the most recent collection called Pure Inspiration, and I was drawn to it as soon as I saw it on the website. I already have a few from Magic Goose so I knew it would be lovely and when it arrived I just had to try it over a really bright green, to contrast as many of its beautiful colours as possible.
It is packed with varying size hexes in blue, purple, pink and orange and I decided to layer it over Nails Inc Queen Victoria Street which I'd been waiting to use for some time.
I really like the contrast between the glitters and the green creme, I think it shows the colours off really well. This is a wonderful combination and the glitter distribution was great with one coat.
I was amused by its name and when I saw it in the flesh, it reminded me of the first pair of socks I ever knitted. They were in a kit by Regia and the colours are a great match for this varnish, so I couldn't resist a couple of shots with the socks!!
I really do love this and I can't wait to try it over other colours too- pink, purple, blue, peach - I just know its going to look great!

Nails Inc Queen Victoria Street

It's green, very green and I wanted it from when I first saw it on QVC! There'd been quite a bit of chat about the NEED for a green that was the green equivalent of Nails Inc Baker Street, super vibrant and then Nails Inc brought out Queen Victoria Street.
It is beautiful, it's a tricky green to describe, not as green as grass, but it really is a true green. Unfortunately most of my pics and a lot of swatches I looked at when googling have it as a much bluer green. I think there is a the tiniest amount of blue tinge that takes it in the peppermint direction but really this is just a beautiful vibrant green creme.
Nails Inc describe it as emerald, but even the pics on their web site look bluer than my nails, and when I googled Pantone emerald, that colour is a touch bluer too.
Anyway, as usual with Nails Inc, it applied well, virtually opaque in one coat, perfect with two coats.
The only picture that really captured the colour correctly was the one taken indoors with a flash, the rest are bluer than real life I'm afraid. No matter what colour I put with it, I could not persuade the camera to see green - very frustrating!
