OPI DS Lapis

In Autumn 2013 OPI brought out 2 new polishes in their Designer Series - the packaging says "Raw Granite - textured, matte, the diamond's edgy cousin". The 2 shades were DS Lapis (on my nails today), and DS Pewter (on my nails very soon!!)
When I first saw them I fell in love, but being part of the designer series they were a bit pricey, and since they were unlikely to come up on the swap pages, I tried to forget about them.
However, this week, a friend tagged me in a post about OPI holding a charity sale, near their offices just outside Watford. Google maps told me this was only 8 miles away, so it would have been silly not to go, right ?
Thinking I'd be seeing old ranges, in the least loved colours I went along with no great expectation but as I walked through the door - there they were, DS Lapis and DS Pewter. I picked up a few other pretties while I was there and was delighted to find that OPI had donated these polishes to the charity Look Good, Feel Better so every penny I spent went directly to this worthy charity supported by many beauty brands.
So, that's the story, now to the polish.
DS Lapis is quite a thick polish, but it painted on well in two coats, and dried very quickly. This was instant love, even after the first coat I knew!!! I love textured polishes, I love blue, I love dark colours, and I love glitter!
This is a gorgeous sapphire blue and silver glittery textured polish. I wondered if it might be similar to Alcatraz Rocks, which I also love, but Alcatraz is more of a slate blue. Lapis is certainly brighter, but no less beautiful! Obviously I need both!
DS Lapis seemed to dry a lot quicker than Alcatraz, the DS polishes in general I believe are supposed to be more resilient, and certainly this is lasting very well. After 2 days it is still bright and sparkly, with no chips. I expect it will be a bit tough to get off, but it is so pretty I will forgive it!

  1. This looks amazing, I love the deep shade and the texture looks awesome! I've never heard or been to a nail polish charity event but that's the most amazing idea ever, it sounds like you had a great time and found some beauties! :) xx

  2. This looks gorgeous on you Debbie! Love the story behind the purchase as well. It certainly does feel better when the money we pay for polish goes to a good cause, doesn't it?
