April Challenges - Matte - Lacquer Lust Mind Over Matte'r

I do love flakies, the new ones that have come out in the last 12 months are beautiful but one day I came across swatches of Lacquer Lust Mind Over Matte'r. To my delight it was in stock on Rainbow Connection so I had to have it. Lacquer Lust describes this as a "matte top coat with ultra chrome flakes" and it is nothing like any other flakie I have ever seen! The flakes are tiny and every colour imaginable, in fact they bring to mind Chemistry at school and my fascination with the concept of the 7 oxidation states of titanium- each one a different colour!
What better polish to swatch for #30daysofcolourchallenge when the prompt was matte!
I've seen swatches over different bases but I do think this is probably prettiest over a dark base so I have applied a single coat over A England The Blessed Damozel. The finish is so smooth and has that velvety feel that you get when you apply a matte top coat! Unlike other flakies where the flakes are translucent, these look like little slivers of metal. This is certainly one of those polishes that you just have to keep staring at.
This photographed really well too and I am afraid I couldn't resist blowing an image up so you can really see the flakes.

Neon Week ! Leighton Denny Maroon me Knot

Well it was still neon week and I remembered Leighton Denny Maroon me Knot so it was the perfect opportunity to try this one again. This proved to be a major challenge.
I had forgotten that you should really have a white/solid base under a neon so the coverage on this seemed rather streaky and of course it dries matte so its not until you put a top coat on that you can see the final effect. 2 coats was not good, and 3 wasn't really perfect. I used Chelsea Bridge UV top coat here.
As the finish wasn't great, and I could see the visible nail line I tried glitter tips but that didn't help so I went for full pink nail jewellery, Nails Inc Princes Arcade. It does look thicker at the tips as the glitter tips were still there and I didn't do the greatest job of blending them out but overall I was happy with this, Maroon me Knot is such a gorgeous shade and goes perfectly with the pink nail jewellery.

I wore it for 5 days and this is how it looked on the 5th day - barely any tip wear. I loved this and only took it off because other varnishes were calling to me :) It was not to bad to take off, using the nail soakers.
