September Challenges - Swatcher's Choice

The prompt for today for #30daysofcolourchallenge was Swatcher's Choice. I chose Colors by Llarowe Mocha Grande - when I saw the new Fall Collection, this was the one I wanted most and it is stunning!!! I ordered this one as soon as it was available at Rainbow Connection.
I am completely in love with this! It applied nicely, virtually perfect in one coat although I did do two. It dried nicely, and the holo is stunning. I got some reasonable pictures as the sun was shining and it is still gorgeous even in the shade - an absolute dream polish and completely perfect for Fall (or Autumn).
Pictures are taken with top coat.
This is such a warm dark brown - even away from the sunlight and nothing like any other browns that I have - darker and warmer than CBL Burnt Sugar, darker than Smitten Seasonal Lattes and warmer than Above the Curve Friday the 13th. I do love a dark holo!!!

September Challenges - Your Favourite Colour

The #30daysofcolourchallenge prompt was Your Favourite Colour - for nails, my favourite is most definitely blue. It is rare that I actually have an untried blue in my stash but I bought Glam Polish Bad Hair Day from Rainbow Connection last week so it was just waiting to be used! This is a limited edition polish for Alopecia Awareness. It is a gorgeous mix of glitters and holo micro glitters packed into a blue base. Overall it is a fairly dark blue but in some lights almost teal. It is stunning and so sparkly!
2 coats gave great coverage anf it applied nicely. Pictures are taken with one coat of top coat.
After half a day of glitteriness, I couldn't resist adding some stamping with Yours Cosmetics Sascha Gossen YS04 - I love this plate!! and Esmaltes da Kelly Doguito, a nude stamping polish.
Finally I added some more stamping with Yours Cosmetics Sascha Gossen YS04 and Colour Alike Scary Pumpkin, a gorgeous rust shade.
I did all the stamping quite randomly, it's really cool to see all the different patterns you get with the thicker and thinner lines and I love the fact that the glitter peeps through in between the stampings.

September Challenges - Colour of Your Socks

Today's prompt for #30daysofcolourchallenge was Colour of Your Socks. As I was in the mood for stripes, I dug out a pair of stripey socks and then set to work recreating them.
I started with a base of Leighton Denny Brick Road, and then added blue stripes with Esmaltes da Kelly Wendy and Moyou London Pro XL 01.
Then I added more stripes with Colour Alike Red Wine & Lilac Sweater and Lealac LLC-A. The image on LLC-A is quite large so it was possible to paint the actual stripes in alternating colours on the plate - a bit tricky but worth it I think. The resulting stripes were not that tidy, a bit wonky in places but overall I thought they were OK..
Then I added the knitted look with A England Lancelot and Messy Mansion MM40. I do like this plate!!
Finally I added a matte top coat. I still can't decide whether I prefer this mani matte or glossy but I was pretty pleased with it anyway.

September Challenges - Colour of Your Eyes and Wings

Colour of your eyes was the prompt for #30daysofcolourchallenge yesterday. I have blue grey eyes that were listed in my baby book as sometimes violet so I thought A England Jane Morris would be a good choice for this! Jane Morris is a gorgeous slate grey holo with flashes of violet in with the holographic particles.
This polish applied beautifully, and although pretty opaque I did apply two coats. Pictures are taken with topcoat. You can't see the violet which is a shame but the holo picked up quite well on the camera.
The next challenge was Wings for #clairestelle8sept. It was a quiet day, I had no work and everyone was out for the day so I decided it was time for another reverse stamping adventure with the Uber Mat.
I used Moyou London Kitty 14, Essence Stampy 002 to stamp the butterfly wings and then coloured them with Colour Alike Raindrop, Fairy Forest and Lilac Sweater. I used a small brush for this, and found that so much easier than using a dotting tool. The scary part is lifting them off the mat, but I only ripped one a tiny bit and another that I hadn't laid  a good enough base for. I also made the effort to cut off all the spare around the edge before putting them on my nails so I didn't have such a messy wrap around the edge thing going on!
I had just finished when my husband came home so I pestered him to take a picture to show I actually did all 10 nails.

September Challenges - Summer Colour and Colour of Your Shirt

Yesterday's prompt was Summer Colour for #30daysofcolourchallenge. I decided to use Glam Polish Tickled Pink - a store exclusive from Rainbow Connection. Tickled Pink is a gorgeous, amazingly glittery pink. It is quite a warm pink so probably not my first choice for a pink except that it is mega sparkly, so it is allowed! Coverage was good with 2 coats although it did seem to take a while to dry hard, maybe because it was so cold today. This is my first Glam Polish and I like it a lot but I did find it a challenge to photograph.
The next  prompt for #30daysofcolourchallenge was Colour of Your Shirt.  I always wanted a pink and white Oxford shirt and just a couple of weeks ago a flyer came through the door with a great offer, so I treated myself. I used Moyou London Pro XL 01 and Essence Stampy 001 over Glam Polish Tickled Pink in honour of my lovely new shirt. This actually photographed rather well I think and the glitteryness of the Glam really shows.
Then I added some more stamping with Loja BBF 46 and Colour Alike Kind of Black - a new stamping polish which I received today. I had to test it and I am very impressed. Super quick delivery from Poland and a great price, as well as a great polish. The Loja BBF plate stamped well too, I am loving these little plates that I got in a group buy recently!
Finally I added Barry M Matte Top Coat and I really like the finished matter version. I love this Barry M top coat, it gives the most delicious velvety finish, and certainly helps with taking better pictures of stamping!

September Challenges - Plaid (or Tartan)

This weeks prompt for #wnac2015 was Plaid ( or Tartan if you are English).
I added stripes with A England Briar Rose and Lealac LLC-A to Glisten & Glow Electric Lemonade. Then I used A England Proserpine and Moyou London Hipster 05 to add the tartan pattern.
I am quite pleased with how these turned out - I love tartan and I think the colours work well together.

September Challenges - Spring Colour

Today's prompt for #30daysofcolourchallenge is Spring. I just had one more Glisten & Glow polish to try and I think Electric Lemonade fits the bill for a spring colour.
This is a gorgeous polish, I love the colour and that amazing holo! As with the other two G&G polishes, application was a dream - these are excellent polishes.  The colour is a pale green, with a very slight blueness to it, more apparent in the shady shots. It is beautiful and very wearable!
I am so excited that I managed to get a proper sunshine shot, although I have taken a few in the shade too because sun is never guaranteed ! Pictures are taken with top coat.

I am really delighted with all three polishes that I bought- Rum and Coke, Blue on Blue and Electric Lemonade. They are all from the Cocktail Collection, Round 2 and are available from Rainbow Connection. I almost wish I had bought more but these were the colours I thought I'd wear most and I love them.
