30th November - St Andrew's Day

30th November is St Andrews's Day - when I was little the 4 saint's days for England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales were drummed into us and we used to wear our Brownie uniforms to school to mark these special days.
This year I did a mani for each day. For St Andrew's Day I have done tartan, using Moyou London Hipster 05, A England Camelot and Hit the Bottle Snowed Under over a base of  Above the Curve Caty Periwinkle and 'Ard as Nails Dewy Morning.
This is the closest I could get to my family tartan - I am 1/4 Scottish, so I googled my maiden name and found that family name Clement is part of the Lamont clan - the Lamont tartan is blue and green stripes with white and black. There seem to be a variety of shades but I went with paler blue and green simply so the black would show up. There's probably a bit too much white but I do think they look rather wintery and very pretty!
The other saints are St David, St Patrick and St George, and I have linked this post to the originals in case you want to see them again.
I also did a quick collage of the 4.

September Challenges - Plaid (or Tartan)

This weeks prompt for #wnac2015 was Plaid ( or Tartan if you are English).
I added stripes with A England Briar Rose and Lealac LLC-A to Glisten & Glow Electric Lemonade. Then I used A England Proserpine and Moyou London Hipster 05 to add the tartan pattern.
I am quite pleased with how these turned out - I love tartan and I think the colours work well together.

April Challenges - Textured and Inspired by Fabric

Today's two challenges are Textured for #30daysofcolourchallnge and Inspired by Fabric for #clairestelle8april. I think they go quite well together.
I started with another of my lovely Avon Stardust polishes. This is Radiant Rose, a stunning raspberry pink/red. This is utterly gorgeous, and I think a little smoother than Teal Glitter and Polished Plum.
It looks so pretty in the sunshine but is beautiful in daylight too.
It applied well, lovely coverage in two coats and dried quickly.
For the 2nd challenge I added  a freehand stripe of Avon Stardust Teal Glitter down the centre of each nail and then using Moyou London Hipster 05 and Mentality Beige Opaque I stamped a tartan pattern over the two textures.
I think the alignment was pretty good and I love the way these look. I did not topcoat them, so although there is a risk the stamping won't last, it has kept that matte/textured finish. In fact I did this mani about 6 hours ago and it still looks fine. (24 hours later - still fine)
Photos taken with my favourite skirt which is very old, but I do love tartan!
