Iconic Effect Turtle Shell

This is another fantastic UK Indie polish, from Iconic Effect and it is beautiful. I feel a bit bad that I have had this for a while without swatching it but this was one I knew I'd love and I was kind of saving it for darker days. I swatched it over black a few days ago and was blown away!

Iconic Effect Turtle Shell is a mix of green squares, black, steely grey and green hexes, and lots of tiny glitter in a teal jelly base. It catches the light beautifully, picking up shades of blue at some angles and a hint of holographic too.

This polish could be layered up to show off  that beautiful teal and I will try that next time but I had in my mind I want to try it over Nails Inc Black Taxi. So, two elements are not apparent because I used it over black, you can't see the teal and you can't see the black glitter, but you can see both quite well on the 2nd bottle shot.

Despite losing the black glitters, there are so many other glitters in here that I think it still looks fantastic. I love glitters over black but I also love the fact that I can use this over green, blue, teal or on its own .

This is just so super sparkly, catches the light all the time and is very smooth after one coat of top coat. There is great distribution with one coat of the glitter, giving just the right amount of glitter on the nail for this mani.

The end of summer...

I love the summer, love the warm weather, pretty dresses, sandals and painted toenails. Love wearing sunglasses, drinking cold beer, soaking up the sun.
I hate being cold or wet but there are things I like about winter:- out come all my lovely woollies and I can move safely back to my dark and neutral nail varnishes. Last year I stuck to them all year round but this year I made a huge effort because there are some real beauties out there and who wants to read a blog about me wearing dark nail varnishes every day!!

So this is just a short post, me thinking out loud as it were, as the weather gets colder, and a quick pic of the darkest dark there is and one of my favourite green cardigans! Just look how glossy this is and this is with no top coat!

Monochromatic Week - Black & White

It's Monochromatic Week on All Things Nails and my immediate thought was black & white, although monochrome means one colour or shades of one colour, so black or white, or any other colour. I checked it out on Wikipedia and that is the case but the term is often used to mean the same as black & white.
Anyway, that aside, I decided to do black and white and having just acquired Nubar Black Polka Dots I thought it would be a great opportunity to try out both the Black & the White Polka Dots.
I don't actually own a pure white, but I have OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls which is a very pale grey, almost white, and I have used Nails Inc Black Taxi.
So this is my base...

The Nubar Polka Dots are very elusive! Plenty of the fine glitter came out, but first time round only 1 white dot and no black ones at all! It's also rather difficult to see if you have any on the brush with the black since the brush is black too, and I think I might try to find a white brush to apply these with next time! I finally got enough out to create the effect I had in my mind and this is it.
