40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Nude + a colour with accent nail

This weeks prompt was Nude + a colour and my pattern prompt was "accent nail". You'll notice if you look regularly at my manis I really don't do accent nails, I just don't feel comfortable with them but anyway - that was the prompt so that's what I did.
I painted all my nails except for the ring finger with Nails Inc Montpelier Walk and the ring finger with Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset.
Then I used one of my newest plate Dixie plate DP01 and stamped an abstract pattern using Esmaltes da Kelly Chuoisco over the nude nails and Esmaltes da Kelly Doguito over the pink nail.
Despite my reservations I was quite pleased with how they turned out.

June Challenges - A Smoosh and Unicorns

Right, I think I will give blogging a rest, except for those that have to be blogged. I have thought long and hard about it, but there just never seems to be enough time to do it well and I don't want it to be a scrappy effort (although a few recent ones have been brief to say the least)
This week's smoosh was pink, blue and gold - I used Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset, St James Square and A England Holy Grail.
Unicorns for #clairestelle8june - well I started with UberChicUC 6-01 and Esmaltes da Kelly Fox Fur over my smoosh - and I think that unicorn poops might look a bit like this!!
UC 6-01 is my newest UberChic plate - I know I am a bit behind!! I couldn't quite make up my mind if I needed this set but there are so many images other people have used that I liked I decided to go for it and I love how Esmaltes da Kelly Fox Fur stamps!!
There don't seem to be many unicorn plates, perhaps as rare and shy as unicorns themselves - I found an image on Apipila Super Plate C but to be honest I preferred the previous stage. I am not that keen on single images on my nails, much prefer a pattern and my nails are a bit too small for this unicorn anyway,

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Kids TV

Kids TV for #40greatnailartideas - well this was a toughie - in the end I went with my favourite TV programme when I was little, and even then you have to use your imagination a bit! I always loved this pink stripey cat and it is no coincidence that my daughter is called Emily!
I used Bundle Monster BM-S161 from the Fuzzy and Ferocious set 2 and Moyou London White Knight over Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset.
I showed my husband and asked him which children's TV show this was and he got it staright away so hopefully not too abstract!

A2Z Series - K is for Kitschy

It is Thursday again and time for the next letter - this week it is K. We had a choice here - K is for Kitchen Sink (or skittle) or K is for Kitschy.
I am not entirely comfortable with a mani where each nail is different so I googled "kitsch" instead and looked at the images to see what I could do. A bizarre set of images came up but I found one that I thought I could work with - it seemed to fit with some of the definitions of kitsch that I found and I figured I could create some sort of stamping mani using a similar range of colours. I have included the picture at the end of the post.
So that's the story, now for the mani.
I chose Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset as my base, and then painted half of each nail diagonally in Nails Inc Atomic. One that was dry I was brave and painted french tips in Nails Inc Queen Victoria Street.
I then stamped using Pueen SE04B with Essence Stampy 001 (white) and then Essence Stampy 002 (black) using the same plate but a different part, that I had so far failed to use successfully. As a stamping novice there are so many variables to a successful stamping session and this plate does seem trickier then some of the others I have used. Anyway, it worked this time and I am rather pleased with the outcome. I love the crisp black and white stamping against the bright colours (apart from the one I smudged with the topcoat!)
My daughter said they look like holiday nails and now when I look at them I think Hawaiian shirts! I am not sure they exactly meet the brief, but there's a flavour of kitschyness to them, I hope.

Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset

This is a really quick post today of what was on my nails today. This was a base for the A2Z nail challenge for tomorrow but I thought since it's quite pretty I'd blog it.
Nails Inc Sugarloaf Sunset was an Instyle freebie from last year and I almost didn't buy it as I don't really do pink but at £2 a go, I thought it was worth a try.
I am completely out of my comfort zone with this one but I liked it more than I thought I would. It helps that the quality is good and it applied well. It is quite a warm pink and not as bad against my skin tone as I thought.
I am glad I bought it, it is the perfect base to the mani I have planned next but this is not a colour I could wear for more than a few hours on its own, nothing wrong with it but there were these bright pink nails every time I looked down and I think they'd take a bit of getting used to :)
