October Challenges - Halloween

I combined the final 2 challenges of October for #clairestelle8oct and #30daysofcolourchallenge as they were both Halloween.

I started with a base of Smitten Fire Burn which is quite possibly the most sparkly orange in the world ever, and such a gorgeous colour.

Then I added its partner from last Halloween's duo, Cauldron Bubble for a quick simple gradient - still super sparkly!

Then I stamped using the Nailways Darker Period and Monsters Halloween plates and a combination of Colour Alike Kind of Black, Colour Alike Scary Pumpkin and Avon Metallic Effects Platinum Petal.

I was really short of time to get this done in the daylight so I quite pleased with how well it turned out.

Stamping! A England Tristam over Smitten Fire Burn

Today I have gone for some contrast stamping, using A England Tristam - the most gorgeous holographic blue over my Smitten Fire Burn. I have stamped some pretty roses very much in the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, using Moyou London Mother Nature 11.
The colours work well together but in bright lights Fire Burn is still so sparkly that Tristam doesn't get a look in. In softer lights this is really very pretty!
Although it seems criminal to dampen the sparkle of Fire Burn, I couldn't resist a quick coat of my Avon matte top coat, and I really like the effect. Not all of the sparkle is gone and the depth is still there, like glowing embers through the dark blue roses.

Smitten Polish Fire Burn

Today I have the most super sparkly polish to show you. This is Fire Burn, from Smitten's Halloween Duo, the other being the deep smokey blue grey Cauldron Bubble and I bought the pair recently from Rainbow Connection.
Fire Burn, as its name suggests, is a fiery orange jelly polish, absolutely packed with holographic glitter. It is so unbelievably sparkly, in almost all levels of light.
As this is a jelly I did use 3 coats for full coverage, 2 was almost enough but I could just make out the nail line and decided to add a 3rd thin coat. The colour is just stunning, and this from a reformed orange hater! I think I may now be thoroughly converted.
Even where light levels are low and the sparkle not apparent the colour is so intense and the glitters give the polish a real depth. I think there may be golden/orange as well as holographic glitter as there is a golden glow from some angles and it is probably this combination that gives it the depth. The finish was quite rough after 1 coat of top coat, a second coat virtually smoothed it all out.
This looked awesome in the sunshine, but we were in the car so I couldn't get a decent picture. I did get a picture of it in the daylight though so you can see what its looks like. (We went to see the Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part 1, which is why I have a bird stamped on the ring finger)
