June Challenges - Inspired by Cassis_p

I joined in a collaboration of ladies in a facebook group to send good wishes to Cassis_p who has inspired many but is unwell at the moment. We all recreated a mani of hers.
I chose a mani done by Cassis when she received her first UberChic order 55 weeks ago. I used UberChic UC1-02 with Leighton Denny Supermodel and Essence Stampy 002 over A England Her Rose Adagio and then coloured the flowers with Barry M Purple Pop, Pink Candy, Orange Fizz, Kandy Colors (custom) Knitty Malty Tiger.

June Challenges - Uber Chic !

Lovely Jolene @superninjaflyingmonkey had this great idea of showcasing Uber Chic manis on a Sunday so this is my first entry - Uber Chic UC 1-01 and A England Spirit of the Moors (over UC 1-02 and Leighton Denny Supermodel that I did for my 40 Great Nail Art Ideas Wedding mani )
And then for my second entry - Uber Chic UC 1-03 and Avon Iceberg White - I was frustrated with this one - it looked so pretty but the camera just couldn't capture it.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Weddings

This week's prompt was Weddings for #40greatnailartideas - I decided I would try to match my nails to my wedding dress using Uber Chic UC 1-02 and Leighton Denny Supermodel over Barry M Coconut Infusion Skinny Dip  - I took loads of pictures to try and capture the dress and the mani.
When I actually got married, 22 years ago, I just had very plain nails - a clear polish from Avon, I think but if I were to get married now I think I'd probably go for something floral but dark blue just to be different. These would have been my sensible choice :)
As I took so many pictures I did a few collages so I'll post these instead of making this a very long post!

March Challenges - A Smoosh, Flying and Flowers

For #smooshynailsunday I used  OPI Greenwich Village, Leighton Denny Brick Road and Nails Inc Uptown Glamour.

Flying for #clairestelle8mar - I used Above the Curve Friday 13th with Uberchic UC1-02 and UC4-01.

Then I added some colour by smooshing with Kandy Colors Grape Much? and Hey Girl. I love how this changed the look completely!

And finally, Flowers for #firedazedchallenge - UberChic UC1-02 and A England Camelot.

I was quite pleased wth the way these developed and I really loved the final flowers mani.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Grey and a colour - Roses

This weeks 40 Great Nail Art Ideas prompt was Grey and a colour and my pattern was Roses.
A colour - means that - just one colour and I spent ages deciding which colour but I have always loved the idea of blue roses, even if they don't really exist so in the end that's what I went with.
It was a great excuse to use on of my blue un-trieds, Too Fancy Lacquer The Patronus Charm from the September Paint the Rainbow box.
The Patronus Charm is a dark greyish blue holo with blue shimmer. It is a very wearable shade and I am certain I don't have anything similar in my collection. I love blue and that greyishness is just perfect.
Then I stamped using Esmaltes da Kelly Topolino and Uber Chic UC 1-02. I love this image and for this mani I think it gave the right amount of stamping versus back ground and I am really pleased with the contrast between the creme stamping and the holo.

November Challenges - Blue and Silver

As you can see it is catch up time on the blog again, still wondering if I really should keep this up.
Anyway, the When Colours Collide group have done another collaboration - this time it is Blue and Silver.
I did the mani for this last week and will publish the pic on IG tomorrow as I've already posted too much today!
However, confession time, I did a When Colours Collide collaboration back in August and I completely forgot to blog it so I'll sneak it in on the bottom of this post! That theme was Gifts from Mother Nature and I did butterflies with UberChic 1-02.
For Blue and Silver I am afraid I stayed quite simple. I had just bumped two nails end on onto a cupboard in the kitchen, they were really sore and looked like they were lifting from the nail bed so I was being super cautious with them (hence two rather short looking nails on ring finger and little finger).
I started with a base of Motcomb Street and then stamped a floral oriental design from Uber Chic Far East 01 (newly arrived from She Sells Seashells) and Nails Inc Soho Silver, a freebie from one of the magazines last year I think.

September Challenges - Jelly, Nude and Matte

I have combined three #30daysofcolourchallenge prompts, Nude, Jelly and Matte.
For Nude I used Leighton Denny It's an Honour, from the September 2015 Harper's Bazaar magazine. It is a lovely colour, and I don't mind the shimmer too much!
For Jelly I used my Kandy Colors Neon Jellies - Retro, Grape Much? and Carnival. I stamped with UberChic UC1-02 over the jellies on the index and little finger and used the jellies to leadlight an image from Apipila Super Plate C stamped with Essence Stampy 002 on the other two.
For Matte, I added Barry M Cosmetics Matte Top Coat - I love the silky finish it gave to this mani.

June Challenges - A Glitter Crelly, Silhouettes, and some butterflies

I have a bit of a combined post today - 2 challenges and a final step just because I felt like it!
The challenge for #clairestelle8june was a glitter crelly. I don't have  a lot of these to choose from apart from my precious Cadillacquers and a few UK Indies but I did buy a Dollish last year that I hadn't tried so I thought I'd give that a go.
In the bottle and on swatches I'd seen, Murky Dismal looks very pretty, black and white square glitter in a minty base. On my nail, black and white square glitter in a virtually clear base...mmm not good - 2 coats, not much better so I used undies. Nails Inc Holland Park Gardens was the closest match so I did one coat of that and one coat of Murky Dismal. I am not quite sure where it got its name from because it's anything but murky or dismal, I think it's really pretty once I got it to look how it does in the bottle.
Anyway, I decided it would be a nice base for the #30daysofcolourchallenge, except that I forgot the full challenge - honestly I did! The challenge was Shimmer / Silhouettes - I am not too keen on shimmery polishes which may be why I completely forgot that when I did this mani (doh!) so I am afraid you've just got Silhouettes. I went for butterflies using A England Camelot and Fab Ur Nails FUN 14.
Finally, I was looking at the butterflies thinking it needed something more, and I decided to add large white butterflies, using UberChic Beauty UC 1-02 stamped with Essence Stampy 001.
I really like stamping with black and white and I am so pleased with how this turned out despite the fact that the stamping isn't perfect and nearly every butterfly has a bit missing. Typically the butterflies on the other hand do look better! I am loving the macro lens but it is not at all forgiving!!

May Challenges - Flakies and Gold/Dotticure

Here we go with the first May Challenge.
I have started with Flakies for #clairestelle8may. I used one coat of the gorgeous Girly Bits Take My Money Please over China Glaze Liquid Leather. This is a beautiful flakie with flakes going from gold through to green and even blue at extreme angles. The flakes are so vibrant, truly stunning.
Of course I had to try it matte although I am really not that impressed with my OPI matte top coat, it doesn't really seem quite matte enough but the flakies look fab anyway!!
The #30daysofcolourchallenge was Gold/Dotticure so I added gold roses using SV by Sparkly Vernis Gilded Lemon Drops, definitely my favourite gold polish! I used UberChic Beauty UC 1-02.
I really like the combination of the gold holo and the flakies although it was quite tricky to capture on camera.
I resisted the dotticure part for a day while I decided whether it would really work on this mani but in the end I decided it was worth a try. My hands ache too much if I try to do a proper dotticure but I am perfectly happy to stamp the dots so I used UberChic Beauty UC 1-03 and Hit the Bottle Copper Haired Girl. I wasn't sure about the end result but once I had topcoated I decided I liked it enough to take some pictures and now I really like it. It's probably a bit autumnal with the copper, gold and green but I don't mind :)
